“Your people shall be my people, and your God, my God.”
A primary purpose of the Old Testament stories was to prepare the way of salvation through Jesus Christ. The story of Ruth is a prophetic picture of the time when salvation would pass from the Law to the Kinsman Redeemer, the Lord Jesus Christ. The story of Ruth illustrates the following:
– The Poverty Requiring Redemption
– The Place of Redemption
– The Preparation for Redemption
– The Price of Redemption
The story progresses from poverty to provision, from three funerals to a marriage, from death to life, and from sorrow to joy. Ruth was not only accepted by the Jewish people, she became the great-grandmother of David, the greatest king of Israel. But, her greatest honour was having her name included in the genealogy of Jesus Christ, the true Kinsman Redeemer
