“I have written to you who believe…that you may know that you have eternal life.” (1 John 5:13a)
Howard Katz, the founding pastor of Open Door Christian Fellowship, went home to be with his beloved Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, in January, 2020.
Of the 19 books he authored, Howard considered Eternal Salvation the most important. He believed that Christians who are certain of their salvation will enjoy a more intimate fellowship with God and will be more fruitful in fulfilling His kingdom purposes for their lives.
The Eternal Salvation Study & Discussion Guide is a substantially edited version of Eternal Salvation to make it suitable for group or individual study. There are 12 Eternal Salvation Study Series videos that accompany the discussion guide which are available on YouTube on the Open Door Christian Fellowship channel. Eternal Salvation and Eternal Salvation Study & Discussion Guide are both available as Kindle publications on Amazon.
As believers in Jesus Christ, we need to know without a shadow of doubt that our salvation is eternal and immutable because it depends on God’s faithfulness and not our own. When we sin or struggle with temptation, if we are unsure of our salvation, doubts and fears may arise that can cause us to flee from God instead of running to Him.
The book examines the three-fold salvation of our spirit, our soul, and our body and how each relates to justification, sanctification, and the eventual glorification of our resurrected bodies.
By comparing and contrasting the three main covenants in the Bible, we will better understand how Jesus’ sacrifice at Calvary ensures our salvation through the New Covenant.
Although many verses in the Bible reassure us that our salvation is secure and eternal, other verses appear to present serious warnings regarding our salvation. We will examine the true meaning of these verses and how they apply to our lives.
As we study the Epistle to the Hebrews, we will learn how drifting away from our faith in Jesus, if not checked, can lead to full blown apostasy.
Beyond a detailed description of how salvation occurs, this Study & Discussion Guide paints a broader picture of salvation. The book outlines many of the benefits of salvation such as rewards, crowns, and inheritances and describes the importance of double fruitfulness—in our character and in our actions. How encouraging to know that these benefits and rewards extend beyond our life on earth and will be enjoyed for eternity.
As the world grows darker, maintaining a heavenly perspective is essential. We will explore how wonderful life will be for believers living in glorified, resurrected bodies in Heaven, during the Millennial Reign of Christ, in the new heaven and new earth, and ultimately in the New Jerusalem.
If you have ever doubted the security of your salvation or wondered how great our salvation in Jesus really is, then this book is for you. As you embark on this twelve week journey, may your doubts be laid to rest and may a greater love for Jesus fill your heart.
